Sal's dream introduces us to the game and sets hints for the plot to come.
Sal wakes up in a hospital room with a bloody bed. He has bandages wrapped around his head, save for one eye, with hair poking out. On an old timey phone with its wires cut, he gets a call from a person who sounds like his dad telling him to come. He moves a metal cabinet to get a key and walks through lettered doors that lead outside. He sees people in all black around a grave. Past the group he talks to a dog with blood on its muzzle; it tells him that it "buried her alive". After walking back, Sal goes into the hole in the ground in front of the grave that is labeled as his mother's. In the ground he finds a door which needs a passcode. The numbers could be found in different places in the dream. After entering the numbers into the keypad the door will unlock with "batteries included" which gives the player access to batteries for an object later on in the episode. If you get the passcode wrong, or don't enter any passcode, the door will unlock but batteries aren't included. Sal goes through the door to find his father standing in a hallway muttering sentences about him, then he disappears. Walking further, the hallway leads to a mourge, and at the end of the room is a bed with a woman lying in it. When young Sal walks up to the bed he reveals that it is his mother. There is a close-up shot of Diane's face, and then the dream ends.
- The dream's outside setting was most likely influenced by Larry's paintings in his room in episode 2, as the dream came to Sal when he was older.
- The painting of a dog on the wall and the dog under the tree is probably a reference to Kenneth Phelps.
