In Seeking Providence is a mini-game playable in "The Wretched".
Each chapter is found by using the Super Gear Boy on a different character or location.

Plot/How to unlock[]
There are eight chapters in total, each revealing crucial background of select characters. All of them are from The Wretched. Each chapter begins with an expository title card.
She desperately sought a place among The Council, so the aspiring witch traveled deep into the castle for the initiation trial: to retrieve The Book of Forgotten Truths.
— Chapter 1
Unlocked by: Using the Super Gear Boy in front of Miss Rosenberg for the first time, which also reveals that she is a ghost.
Mission: Miss Rosenberg retrieves The Book of Forgotten Truths and brings it to The Council members.
And the mysterious old woman gazed once again into Jim's eyes and said, 'If you can find the door this key unlocks, we will share the secrets of the universe with you...'"
— Chapter 2
Unlocked by: Going to Larry's tree house, using the Super Gear Boy to summon a phantom (probably Jim Johnson) and speaking to said phantom.
Mission: Jim Johnson traverses a maze of lasers and buttons, which quickly ends at a large door he unlocks.
He knew not why he was drawn to this place, yet could not prevent his feet from treading the dirt path before him. Perhaps it was simply curiosity or perhaps it was destiny.

Unlocked by: Summoning Greg's ghost in Todd's bathroom.
Mission: Greg walks down a path and enters a church. He talks to a man guarding the door (Jim Johnson) but is informed he cannot enter the apex unless he is a member of the church. Greg suddenly hears crying and leaves to investigate the source. He there discovers Stacy Holmes. They share their woes, and connect over them.
When her husband learned of her indiscretions, Stacy knew there wasn't much time left. In fear for her life, she turned to an unlikely ally.

Unlocked by: Summoning Stacy's ghost in the bedroom of 504.
Mission: Stacy cuts the power on each floor of the cult, in order to assist Rose's attempt to stop the ritual. Once she's finished, she tells Rose, and the two discuss their plan.
Playtime was interrupted by the promptly setting sun. In that moment, the young girl realized she had gone far too deep into unfamiliar woods.
— Chapter 5
Unlocked by: Going with Larry into the 504 bathroom and summoning Megan; the chapter is unlocked once she has gone.
Mission: Megan wanders the forest until she runs into her mother. Stacy gives Megan a family heirloom to ward off evil spirits and asks Megan to keep it a secret from her father.
A young occultist found herself tangled in the bowels of the castle, searching for the final components The Council required.
— Chapter 6
Unlocked by: Going to the basement's kitchen (Lisa and Larry's place) and summoning a blue symbol.
Mission: A young occultist navigates through a dangerous maze in order to gather five skull talismans for The Council. Once she has gathered all the talismans, The Council members appraise her efforts. They then use her to summon a being only known as ??? (probably the Red-Eyed Demon).
In a moment he found himself somewhere else. Even though Luke wasn't sure how he ended up here, he knew what must be done.

Unlocked by: Crawling through the hole in the wall of 504's bedroom and using the Super Gear Boy.
Mission: Luke traverses a maze, removing statues of Stacy, Megan, and himself respectively. It is heavily implied that he is under the Demon’s control, as an unnamed voice tells him that Stacy is a threat, that Megan will slow them down, and then to "walk with [it] into the undying flame" so that their "power shall be endless". This is most likely referential to the order in which he killed his family and himself.
After learning what Herman was involved with, Mrs. Sanderson reached out to a friend for help. They would meet up later that night.
— Chapter 8
Unlocked by: Summoning Sandy Sanderson's ghost for the first time.
Mission: Sandy and Herman exchange affections at home. Herman leaves, and Sandy starts gathering evidence of The Council's doings. Charley then breaks into the Sanderson's home, and the screen fades to black, implying the possessed Charley's murdering of Sandy.
Trivia[]
If a chapter is unlocked, the Gear Boy will light up in the left corner of the screen.
The chapters of the game share many details regarding the activities of the Devourers of God.
